Word Game

Play a word-chain game on your Fluxer server: each word must start with the last letter of the previous one, checked against a real dictionary.

Topics: word, game, chain, fun

A word-chain game for your community — each word must start with the last letter of the previous one.

Overview

The Word Game runs in a dedicated channel. Members take turns posting words, and each new word has to begin with the last letter of the word before it. It's a simple, addictive way to keep a channel active. Set it up on Dashboard → Word Game or with the game commands.

Setup

Pick a game channel and Netrcol handles the rest — validating each word and tracking the chain. You can also enable it from chat with !wordgame-setup <channel_id>.

Choose English, Turkish, German, French, Spanish or Portuguese as the game language. Portuguese accepts vocabulary from both Brazil and Portugal. Each word is checked against the selected language's dictionary, and bot announcements and replies use that language.

Options

OptionWhat it does
Game languageThe language used to validate words
Minimum lettersThe shortest word length that's accepted
Allow repeated wordsWhether the same word can be used again
Confirm valid wordsReply after each accepted word with the next required letter; dictionary validation always runs
Allow commentsPermit non-word chatter in the channel without breaking the chain

How it plays

Netrcol tracks the current word, the next required letter, and the running chain. A leaderboard records who contributed the most valid words. The dashboard shows the latest words and live game state.

Accents are preserved: Spanish ñ and Portuguese ç and ã are accepted. When a Portuguese word ends in ã, õ or ç, the chain continues with the previous usable letter, just as Turkish skips a trailing ğ and German skips a trailing ß. For example, maçã continues with a. Enable Confirm valid words to see the bot explain the next letter.
