Moderation & AutoMod
Set up Netrcol moderation on Fluxer with staff commands, automatic message filters, rule exceptions, escalating penalties and the permissions each action needs.
Topics: moderation, automod, filter, ban, warn
Keep your server safe with manual moderation commands, an automatic content filter, escalating punishments, and full command control — all auditable.
Overview
Netrcol's moderation has two halves that work together:
- Manual moderation — the chat commands your staff run (ban, kick, timeout, warn, clear, and more). These are covered on the Moderation commands page.
- Automatic moderation (AutoMod) — a set of rules that watch every message and act on their own.
Everything is configured on Dashboard → Moderation, which is split into Automatic Mod, Admin, and Commands tabs.
Automatic moderation
The AutoMod Rulesets are ten independent checks. Each one can be turned off or set to an action when it triggers:
| Rule | What it catches |
|---|---|
| Bad words | Messages containing your blocked words |
| Repeated text | Repeated words or long repeated characters |
| Server invites | Server invite links |
| External links | HTTP, HTTPS, and www links |
| Excessive caps | Long messages that are mostly uppercase (70%+) |
| Excessive emojis | Messages with too many emojis |
| Excessive spoilers | Messages overloaded with spoiler tags |
| Excessive mentions | Messages with too many mentions |
| Zalgo | Text with excessive combining marks |
| Anti-spam | Rapid, repeated messages |
Actions
For each rule, pick what happens when it triggers:
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Disabled | The rule is off |
| Delete Message | Removes the offending message |
| Delete Message & Warn Member | Removes it and adds a warning |
| Delete Message & Timeout Member | Removes it and times the member out |
Note: The Bad words rule uses your Blocked words list — add the words you want filtered, separated by commas. Bots are always ignored by AutoMod.
Automatic actions
Beyond per-message rules, you can set escalating punishments based on how many infractions a member has accumulated. For example: *“When someone reaches 3 infractions, time them out for 30 minutes”* or *“at 5 infractions, ban.”* Choose from Timeout, Warn, Kick, or Ban, with a threshold and (for timeouts) a duration.
Exempt roles & restricted channels
- Exempt roles (Admin tab): members with these roles are ignored by AutoMod — useful for staff and trusted bots.
- Restricted channels: choose which channels accept commands, image uploads, video uploads, or a combination of these types. Messages without a permitted content type are deleted. Channel exemptions are configured separately.
Selecting a channel opens the unsaved-settings bar immediately. Choose at least one content type, then click Save to apply the rule directly. If a rule is missing a channel or content type, saving is blocked with an error beside that rule. Add channel opens another rule; it is not required to save the first one. Cancel restores the saved settings and removes unsaved rules.
Media reactions
When Images or Videos is enabled for a restricted channel, Media reactions appears below its content types. It is off by default. Turn it on to show two emoji selectors, initially ⬆️ and ⬇️; click either emoji to choose a Unicode or server emoji. Click Save in the unsaved-settings bar to apply the channel and its emoji settings together.
Each channel keeps its own switch and emoji pair. Reactions are added once per accepted message containing a permitted image or video upload, after AutoMod checks. Commands and text-only messages do not receive reactions. Messages deleted by another AutoMod rule do not receive them either. Turning the switch off keeps the saved emoji choices for later use.
The bot needs View Channel, Read Message History, and Add Reactions in that channel. Moderation exemptions do not prevent these optional media reactions.
Command management
The Commands tab lets you enable or disable each moderation command individually. Turn off the ones your server doesn't use, and they'll stop responding for everyone.
Moderation logs
Every moderation action — manual or automatic — is recorded. The Admin tab shows recent actions, and when a log channel is configured (or via the Logging system), a detailed entry is posted with the actor, target, reason, and timestamp.
Permissions
Each manual command needs its matching permission (for example Ban Members for !ban). AutoMod actions need Manage Messages, plus Moderate Members if any rule is set to time members out. Role hierarchy applies — Netrcol can only act on members and roles below its own. See Permissions & Roles.

Link whitelist
In External links or Server invites, open the rule settings, type a link prefix and press Enter or comma to create a tag, then select Save & Close. Both filters share this list.
Matching uses the exact beginning of each link, including case, scheme, and path. For example, https://example.com/docs/ allows https://example.com/docs/start but does not allow http://example.com/docs/start or https://example.com/other. Use a trailing / when the prefix should end at a domain or directory boundary. Up to 100 prefixes are supported, each up to 1000 characters without spaces.
Every link is checked separately. A message containing an allowed link and another blocked link is still moderated; the log lists only blocked links. Other AutoMod rules still apply.
