Welcome & Goodbye
Greet new members on Fluxer with custom join and leave messages, rich embeds, generated image cards and an optional direct message on arrival.
Topics: welcome, goodbye, join, leave, greeting
Greet new members and say farewell to those who leave — with plain text, rich embeds, or generated image cards.
Overview
The welcome system can announce when a member joins, privately welcome that member by DM, and announce when a member leaves. Each flow is configured independently on Dashboard → Welcome & Goodbye, using the Join, DM, and Leave tabs. Choose a message type and write your content with a live preview beside the editor. Channel selection is required for Join and Leave; DM is delivered directly to the new member.
Message types
Each flow (join, DM, or leave) can be one of three types:
| Type | Best for |
|---|---|
| Text message | A simple line of text with parameters and emojis |
| Embed message | A rich embed with author, title, body, fields, images, and footer |
| Image message | A generated visual card with the member's avatar, a title, subtitle, badge, and a background |
Parameters
Use these placeholders anywhere in your message — they're replaced per member:
| Parameter | Replaced with |
|---|---|
{user} | A mention of the member (their name in visual cards) |
{username} | The member's display name |
{server} | The server name |
{memberId} | The member's account ID |
{memberCount} | The current member count |
In the editor, type a parameter directly or click one of the parameter chips to insert it. Tokens are highlighted inline so you can see them at a glance.
Embed builder
The embed type gives you a full visual builder:
- A color stripe down the side of the embed
- Author text (with an optional icon and link) and a thumbnail in the top-right
- Title and a message template body
- Additional fields (name + value pairs)
- A large image below the content and a footer (with optional icon)
Everything updates in the live preview on the right as you type. Images can be PNG, JPG, or animated GIF.
Image cards
The image type generates a banner-style welcome card featuring the member's avatar. You can set a card title, subtitle, a member badge, a background image or color, plus accent and text colors.
Tips
- Set a channel for each Join or Leave flow you enable — channel flows without a channel won't send anything.
- A member can disable direct messages. When that happens, the DM welcome is skipped without affecting the public welcome message.
- Netrcol needs Send Messages and Embed Links in the welcome channel — see Permissions & Roles.
- Pair welcome messages with Autorole to greet *and* role new members automatically.
Next steps
- Configure it on Dashboard → Welcome & Goodbye
- Set up Autorole for join roles
